Damian Hill

Damian Hill

Chief Executive Officer
Executive Officer since January 1999

With over 20 years’ experience in life insurance and superannuation, Damian has been Chief Executive Officer of REST since 2006, after joining the company in 1999 as Administration Manager.

He has a Bachelor of Science and is a fellow of the Association of the Superannuation Funds of Australia and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst. He is an active member on a number of industry and government working parties and is the Convenor of the Industry Funds Forum and a director of the Fund Executives Association. Damian is also the Chair of SuperFriend.

Chris Stevens

Chris Stevens

Chief Financial Officer
Executive Officer since March 2008

Chris has worked in the superannuation industry for over 20 years. He joined REST as Chief Financial Officer in 2008 and is responsible for the Finance and Analytics functions.

Prior to joining REST, Chris worked in the Custody division of JPMorgan in Sydney for 14 years. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Bristol University in the UK. He is qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand in London working in the Banking and Finance audit group. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a member of the Association of Superannuation Funds in Australia.

Paul Howard

General Counsel and Company Secretary
Executive Officer since March 2011

Paul is responsible for overseeing the investment governance functions and managing relationships with REST’s asset consultant, custodian and external investment managers. Paul is also responsible for the legal, compliance and secretariat functions having joined REST in 2011 as General Counsel & Company Secretary, continuing his in-house career in financial services organisations with a focus on funds management and asset management which he began in 2005.

Prior to moving in-house, Paul spent nine years in private practice in Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

Paul's primary specialty is in mergers and acquisitions with an infrastructure focus in the in-house environment both domestically and internationally.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland. He is currently a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia and is also admitted to practice in New Zealand.

Phil Budge

Chief Risk Officer
Executive Officer since June 2015

Phil was appointed as Chief Risk Officer in June 2015. As Chief Risk Officer he is responsible for REST’s Risk Management and Compliance Framework and for providing independent risk oversight to ensure good governance and controls are in place.

Prior to joining REST, Phil was Risk Manager at State Super Financial Services and previously worked at APRA, Trust Company LTD, MLC and St George Bank.

He holds a Bachelor of Law from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Business from UTS, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a Certified Internal Auditor.

Sandra Coleman

Sandra Coleman

General Manager Strategy, Transformation and Technology
Executive Officer since January 2014

Sandra joined REST in January 2014 and is responsible for Strategy, Technology and Transformation focusing on functional accountability over the alignment of activities in Technology and Transformation programs across the business to the defined fund’s strategic direction. Prior to REST, she held the position of Chief Information Officer at two state government organisations.

Sandra has more than 15 years’ experience in IT including working for multi-national manufacturing organisations in professional services and government organisations. She brings a strong capability in business transformation utilising strategic technology initiatives to gain efficiencies and a competitive advantage.

Sandra holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Sydney majoring in Technology Management, along with technical qualifications relating to technology frameworks and best practices.

Andrew Howard

Executive Officer since April 2015

Andrew was appointed as Chief Operating Officer on 14 April 2015 and is responsible for delivering high quality products and services to REST’s almost two million members and 160,000 employers.

Prior to joining REST, Andrew worked for over 12 years with the National Australia Bank group (NAB) in the Wealth Management division including; Asset Management, Corporate Superannuation, Financial Planning and Insurance. He has held a number of general management positions including General Manager People and Culture for NAB Wealth, General Manager Group and Direct Insurance for MLC Insurance and General Manager, Distribution and Client Management for NAB Asset Management. He has also worked previously as a management consultant with Accenture for 7 years.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) from the University of Sydney and a Master of Psychology in Organisational Psychology (Honours) from the University of New South Wales. He is a Registered Psychologist of NSW and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Trevor Evans

General Manager People and Culture
Executive Officer since August 2014

Trevor joined the REST People and Culture team in August 2014 and is responsible for the Human Resources and Payroll functions.

Trevor has over 20 years’ experience in Human Resources and prior to joining REST, he worked in Human Resources roles at Suncorp, Tourism Australia, ING, ASIC and in government administration.

Trevor holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology, a Master of Business Administration and is a Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Mary Atley

General Manager Brand, Marketing and Communications
Executive Officer since June 2011

Mary joined the REST Marketing and Communications team in June 2011 following her relocation to Sydney from Melbourne.

With 30 years’ experience in marketing, Mary is a highly qualified and experienced strategic marketer and has worked across diverse industries including financial services, energy, retail and professional services. Previously the head of marketing and communications at a member driven organisation, she brings a wealth of relevant experience to REST. Mary has a Certificate in Direct Marketing from ADMA.

Beth Parkin

General Manager Customer Service
Executive Officer since November 2015

Beth joined REST in November 2015 as General Manager Customer Service responsible for the Operations Services, Insurance and Technical teams.

Beth has over 20 years’ experience in customer service, contact centre management and strategy, outsourcing, vendor management and digital self-service within Australia and a number of high profile global brands. She brings strong capability in global best practice and works closely with REST’s service providers Australian Administration Services Pty Limited and AIA Australia Limited, to implement initiatives that drive REST’s future customer experience. Beth has held a number of senior Customer Service roles in telecommunications, digital and hospitality industries and holds a Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University, CA, USA.

Craig Hobart

General Manager Strategic Relations
Executive Officer since July 2016

Craig was appointed as General Manager – Strategic Relations in July 2016 and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to elevate relationships with nearly two million REST members and over 170,000 REST employers.

With over 25 years’ experience in financial services Craig joins REST from Baycorp where he was General Manager Australia since 2013. Prior to that he was Chief Executive Officer of Yourshare Financial Services, an online B2C financial services company and held a range of positions at Tyndall AM from 2007 to 2012 including Managing Director.

Craig holds a Master of Management from MGSM and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland.

Brendan Casey

General Manager Investments
Executive Officer since November 2016

Brendan joined REST as General Manager Investments in November 2016. Having commenced his career as a chemical engineer Brendan moved into financial services in the early 90’s. His experience spans across CBA, ITG, Southern Cross Equities, SIA/FinSIA/Kaplan, Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup and as a self-employed Financial Consultant.

Prior to joining REST, Brendan was Head of Investment Operations and Control at Suncorp. Brendan has also been part of the Australian Army Reserve for 32 years and was employed full time by the Australian Army in 2011 when he was on operational deployment in Afghanistan.

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a PhD, both from the University of Sydney.  He also holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Securities Institute of Australia, and a Graduate Diploma of Management from the University of Canberra.
