About the Job

Working in a highly collegiate and engaged team, where the focus is on delivering the best possible advice, whilst enabling you to bring your best to work and to develop as a professional. Using your previous experience as a supervisor or coach to enhance the team and support the Head of Advice.

Interaction with Rest members may be via inbound enquiries from Rest members, Rest seminars, Employer visits or through proactive campaigns in conjunction with other areas of the business. Participating in regular training to keep up-to-date with legislation, industry changes, new strategies and product changes or enhancements.

This role will also have no direct reports but will have leadership and supervision responsibilities (approximately 30% of role). This will require the assistance in the daily management of the advice team and coaching of Advisers and to support the Head of Advice and act as a 2IC. 

This role requires understanding of the financial planning process in relation to both the provision of intra-fund advice and the need to expand the advice scope beyond this.  

The outcome is the provision of quality, compliant advice in the best interest of Members.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide high quality advice to Rest members within the scope of the advice service proposition and regulatory framework
  • Identify the member’s financial planning needs and provide the right level of service accordingly
  • Engage members via phone for the advice discussion and implementation. Face to face advice is provided where practical.
  • Attend employer work sites for face to face advice when required
  • Act in the best interest of the member in the provision of advice
  • Complete Statements of Advice in relation to the advice provided, and assist in the implementation of the advice with the Rest member as required
  • Comply with the administration and record keeping obligations when providing financial advice
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of our AFSL as outlined in the Rest Financial Planner Manual
  • Participate in proactive outbound campaigns on designated advice topics in conjunction with other internal business units
  • Learn and operate the Rest advice technology solution and identify opportunities for enhancement
  • Support the activities of the Education Managers in promoting advice services offered by Rest and assist as required in promotional and networking opportunities
  • Mentor and support Financial Advisers & Associate Advisers as required
  • Check Statements of Advice for team members and provide feedback.
  • Assist with daily team activities and workflow e.g. rostering and supervision
  • Represent the Advice team within the wider Rest business
  • Assume team responsibilities in the absence of the Head of Advice

About You:

You have a collaborative team style and an understanding of the importance of delivering and ability to articulate the value of personal financial advice – in an easily understand manner. You take pride in your profession and want to feel valued for the work you do - knowing that it matters. You strive to enhance the team’s capabilities and delivery.

Requirements include:

  • Expecting to meet full FASEA education requirement by the end of 2020.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a financial planner
  • Previous coaching, mentoring or supervisory experience
  • Experience in customer service with a commitment to deliver outstanding customer outcomes
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to articulate the value of personal financial advice in an easy to understand manner
  • Exposure to financial planning software
