About the Job 

As our investments team continues to grow we are looking to bring onboard an analyst to support the Portfolio Managers, Alternative Investment, with the ongoing management and evolution of: Rest’s Private Debt Portfolio (including direct investments and externally managed funds) and Rest’s Alternatives Portfolio (including liquid (hedge funds) and illiquid (Agricultural) investments).

A newly created role you will work with closely with two senior investment professionals on portfolio management activities including; market research for investment opportunities, carriage of investment proposals through Rest’s internal approval processes and regular portfolio reviews and reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

Modelling and Investment Analysis
 
  • Liaisng with the analytic teams to maintain and further develop the portfolio model including all of Rest’s direct and indirect alternative investments;
  • Prepare forecasts, indicative valuations, monitor, analyze investment performance, undertake investment risk/return analysis; and
  • Produce all quarterly reports as required through correspondence with the key borrowers associated with the direct lending book.
 
Research / Asset Management Activities
 
  • Carry out detailed research regarding individual assets and investment opportunities being considered by Rest Investments;
  • Continually review and manage the risk from the different assets within the provide debt book
  • Assist with reviewing potential transaction parameters and structures to optimise the risk/return potential;
  • Conduct research into new asset types and potential 3rd party fund managers
  • Assist with managing due diligence investigations;
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting requirements;
  • Engage and work with external advisors throughout the due diligence process;
  • Assist with documentation review and negotiation of key transaction framework;
  • From time to time, Analysts may be required to work on opportunities across other unlisted asset classes or assist other unlisted asset class teams, and
  • Assist with management initiatives and performance monitoring of existing assets.
 
About You:
 
  • Knowledge of and passion for financial markets, ideally alternative investments and private debt
  • Related tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of debt constructs such as covenants and ratios (preferred not essential)
  • High level of numerical competency including appreciation of and interest in application to Financial Modelling and Data Science.
  • An understanding of the attitude to risk and investment requirements of institutional investors.
  • Experience in undertaking research in any field
  • Demonstrated report writing skills
