About the Job 
Your role as The Head of Data is to lead and manage all organisation-wide data governance activities including improving the data quality, master data management and ensuring the protection of sensitive and confidential data assets.

This is a highly strategic and collaborative role facilitating and provide input into the Enterprise Data Strategy, working closely with other Business Units, Group Executives and Functional Teams to understand the business drivers and opportunities. 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish and implement an enterprise data governance framework with a focus on improvement of data quality, data relevance and protection of sensitive data.
  • Develop and establish organisational data policies, standards, principles and standard operating processes.
  • Assist the development of the data architecture and security by providing input and working with the Head of Architecture and Head of Security.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the organisation’s core data assets.
  • Define quality and performance metrics that demonstrate compliance with data policies, standards and security.
  • Provide leadership and collaboration across the organisation to ensure that all data related business requirements are clearly understood and considered in day to day planning and prioritization.
  • Own, maintain and enhance the data platform to align to strategic business priorities through day to day management of a team of data technologists. 
  • Ensure the data platform provides a high level of service availability through the appropriate proactive maintenance.


About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field.
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Proven experience leading a data function in a medium sized organisation.
