Retiring Well: Myer and Rest join forces to support long- serving employees

Pre-retirement anxiety and its impact on the workforce

Retirement is seen as a major life milestone, but it can also bring uncertainty.

After decades in the workforce, employees nearing retirement can face anxiety around income security, lifestyle change, and navigating their superannuation. For employees, that uncertainty can lead to stress and disengagement. For employers, it can make workforce planning more complex, as well as affecting morale in the final years of someone’s career.

With 32% of Myer’s workforce aged 55 and over, the company recognised the impact of retirement uncertainty on their team’s wellbeing. The demands on retail workers can be significant, and for Myer, ensuring a smooth, well-supported transition for long-serving employees is a top priority.

Retiring Well at Myer Program

Myer and Rest joined forces to launch the Retiring Well at Myer program, a national initiative designed to help employees navigate the transition to retirement and life after work via a holistic approach to Retirement Planning.
