About the Job

Through the provision of legal counsel, to ensure that Rest’s investment objectives are realised and protected, and that their investment operations conducted within the limits prescribed by law.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as legal counsel to Rest in relation to investment matters, ensuring Rest’s investment objectives are realised and protected, and that its investment operations are conducted appropriately having regard to its authorisations, requirements, and legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Identifying and advising on legal and regulatory matters (extant and emerging) that affect Rest investment business decisions
  • Reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and documenting domestic and global investment matters
  • Identify and wherever possible, appropriately mitigate risks and ensuring appropriate protections in relation to investment objectives
  • Assist in investment related litigated matters
  • Reviewing and negotiating all Rest investments’ legal agreements and documentation as required
  • Advising on Rest’s rights and obligations under laws, contracts and internal policy documentation, including through training and presenting on key issues.
About You:
  • Bachelor of Laws or appropriate business/law degree with admission in an appropriate jurisdiction.
  • Hold a current practising certificate
  • Demonstrate at least four (4) years corporate/commercial experience and familiarity within the commercial investment and/or finance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex transactions both domestically and cross-border.
  • Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to legal risk management.
  • Understanding of limitations and risks and the need to escalate to more senior practitioners and brief external consultants when appropriate.
