The Job:

We are looking to bring onboard an experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team. You will be based in a small, friendly team reporting directly to the Claims Manager and will oversee our insurer and administrator in processing claims on behalf of the trustee.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Working to continuously improve the claims experience for members and their beneficiaries and to ensure that any outsource providers are delivering service to Rest’s required standards.
  • Representing Rest in discussions with Rest’s vendors and participate in discussions on service delivery with Rest’s vendors
  • Overseeing Rest members’ death and disability claims to ensure the efficient review and handling of death benefit distributions, accepted insurance claims, declined, disputed or litigated claims.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in both administration processes and service
  • Representing Rest at SCT conciliations, prepare submissions, respond to and progress all complaints referred to the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal.
  • Supporting the Claims Manager with other tasks, as required from time to time.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
 
  • Demonstrable experience with a super fund, insurer, administrator or adviser
  • Knowledge of group insurance policies, definitions, eligibility criteria, terms and conditions
  • Proven experience in claims assessment
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders, including experience in sensitively communicating with individuals in distressing personal circumstances
  • Experience preparing detailed reports and build sound arguments based on case details
  • Proven attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • The ability to deep dive into claims understand the process and to guide a discussion about improving the experience would be highly regarded
  • Previous experience analysing reports and constructing possible explanations supported by data would be highly regarded.
