Is there anything I should do to help keep my super and information secure?
1. Be aware of phishing scams
We’re aware of an increase in phishing attempts and scams targeting our members. This may mean you get texts and emails from cyber criminals that pretend to be from Rest.
Rest will never ask you to provide your password or any financial information via email or text message. A reminder not to click on any links or attachments in unexpected emails or messages. Please always go to our website rest.com.au to check for the latest information.
If you notice any suspicious activity of any kind on your accounts, please call us on 1300 300 778.
2. Take proactive steps to improve your online security
There are some other simple actions you can take to improve your online security.
- Passwords: Use complex passwords that can’t be easily guessed, change passwords regularly and never use the same or similar passwords on different accounts.
- Beware of scams: There could be an increase in phishing text messages, or emails or voice calls related to this incident. If you receive suspicious text messages, or emails or calls, do not click on any links or provide any personal information.
- Run antivirus software on personal devices: It’s a smart idea to run antivirus software on your personal devices to help detect, block and remove most malicious software.
- Perform regular operating system updates on personal devices as soon as they are released: If your device has an automatic update option, we suggest you turn this on so updates are done as soon as they are released.
- Monitor: Watch your devices and accounts for unusual activity.

If you’ve seen your account balance decrease recently, we want to reassure you no money was transferred out of Rest member accounts as a result of the recent cyber incident.
Recently, many markets globally have fallen. If you are invested in these markets, this fall will show in your account balance.
While this may feel concerning, we want to reassure you these fluctuations are a normal part of investing. Markets naturally go up and down in response to global events. Short-term dips are to be expected and history has shown markets bounce back longer-term.
