Rest appoints senior leaders to support continued simplification and growth

Rest, one of Australia’s largest profit-to-member superannuation funds, has appointed 2 experienced senior leaders to head its data and insights, and tax teams.

Irina Chinenova has been appointed General Manager, Data and Insights, while Abbey Pearce has been appointed General Manager, Tax.

Ms Chinenova will lead Rest's data and analytics capability across the fund. She reports to Jeremy Hubbard, Chief Technology and Data Officer.

Mr Hubbard says, “Better data means better super. Under Irina's leadership, Rest will keep building more personalised, intuitive and secure experiences for our 2 million members."

Ms Chinenova has more than 20 years’ experience in data roles, including 10 years in senior leadership positions. Prior to joining Rest, she worked at Optus, most recently as its Head of Data Analytics. She also worked for Woolworths Group as Head of Data Analytics, Products.

Abbey Pearce is responsible for overseeing Rest’s tax profile and its tax governance framework. She reports to John O’Sullivan, Chief Financial Officer.

Mr O’Sullivan says, “Abbey’s deep expertise in tax governance, advisory and compliance will be valuable in supporting Rest’s continued growth.

“Abbey has extensive experience in tax across the financial services sector, having worked with a variety of superannuation funds, sovereign wealth funds, managed funds, and both domestic and offshore fund managers.”

Ms Pearce has more than 20 years’ experience working across the financial services sector. She joins Rest from Cbus, where she was Head of Group Tax. Prior to this, Abbey was a Director in KPMG’s superannuation tax practice, providing advisory services across the financial services industry. She is based in Melbourne.
