Rest adds senior leaders to help enable super simple strategy


Rest, one of Australia’s largest profit-to-member superannuation funds, has appointed 2 experienced leaders to help deliver critical aspects of the fund’s strategy to simplify the experience of super for its 2 million members.

Kareene Koh has been appointed as General Manager, Strategy, while Florence La Carbona has joined as General Manager, Data and Insights.

Ms Koh is responsible for leading Rest’s strategic planning and alignment across the fund. She reports to Tyrone O’Neill, Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer.

Mr O'Neill says, “Rest is progressing well in delivering our strategy to simplify the experience of super for our members, so they’re empowered to take action and achieve their best retirement outcomes.

"Kareene will play a key role in nurturing a culture of strategic innovation within Rest to build on this progress and achieve our ambitions. She is highly experienced in strategic roles across a wide variety of organisations and industries, with a particular focus on digital solutions."

Florence La Carbona - General Manager, Data and Insights

Ms La Carbona is responsible for strengthening Rest’s data management practices and enhancing both foundational and advanced data capabilities within the fund. She reports to Jeremy Hubbard, Chief Technology and Data Officer.

Mr Hubbard says, "Florence will be instrumental in advancing our strategy to simplify super and make it engaging for our members. She will ensure Rest is equipped to create even more intuitive, personalised and secure experiences for our members by leveraging data."

Ms Koh has more than 20 years’ experience across a range of industries, including banking, financial services, media and broadcasting and telecommunications. She joins Rest from the Nine Entertainment Group, where she worked on a range of strategic projects, and prior to that as the General Manager of Domain Home Loans, a joint venture between Domain and Lendi.

She was also a Partner at Deloitte Digital for more than 3 years and worked in a variety of strategic roles at National Australia Bank for more than 5 years.

Ms La Carbona has more than 15 years’ experience in data-driven strategy and digital transformation at a range of financial services businesses. She joins Rest from Resolution Life, and has previously worked in data, analytics and technology roles at Metlife, BT Financial Group, TAL and Westpac.
