Directors' skills by source of competency

Directors'Skills

The Director skills matrix is calculated on 30 June each year and reflects the sources of competency of individual directors. 

Individual Director responses are taken from the information provided as part of the annual Fit and Proper Assessment or in the case newly appointed Directors, at the time of their appointment. 

All Directors are required to undertake a minimum of 20 hours training annually, of which 15 hours must be formal training. 

During the current reporting period, Directors also participated in an ‘on-shore’ study tour that was conducted over a five-day period with a focus on technology, agile work practices, investments and product development.

For the 2020/21 reporting period and beyond, the People, Culture and Remuneration Committee will have responsibility for Director skills matrix and related analysis. This recent development follows the commencement of Rest’s ‘Governance Program of Work’ initiative.

In relation to gender diversity, the Rest Board has set:

  • a 33% minimum target for each gender by 31 December 2020; and
  • a 40% minimum aspiration for each gender.
For financial year ending 2020, these targets were on track.
