The Director skills matrix scores are calculated as at 30 June each year. Individual Director responses are taken from the information provided as part of the annual Fit and Proper Assessment or in the case newly appointed Directors, at the time of their appointment.

The Director skills matrix scores for 2018/19 include responses from three newly appointed Directors (two Directors were appointed on 28 June 2019 and one Director was appointed on 28 November 2018). As at 21 August 2019, one Alternate Director has completed approximately 16 hours of training since being appointed in November 2018, another Alternate Director appointed on 26 June 2019 has already completed 3.5 hours of formal training and is enrolled to complete a further 36 hours training in November 2019 and another Director appointed on 26 June 2019 is to be enrolled in the same 36 hour training course in November 2019. In light of this, there will be a significant uplift in these scores for the next reporting period. All Directors are required to undertake a minimum of 20 hours training annually.

In relation to gender diversity, the Rest Board has set:

  • a 33% minimum target for each gender by 31 December 2020; and
  • a 40% minimum aspiration for each gender.
For financial year ending 2019, these targets were on track.
