Rest launches new Retire Ready digital experience to empower members approaching retirement

Rest, one of Australia’s largest profit-to-member superannuation funds, is launching a new digital experience designed to make retirement preparation simpler and more personalised for its members.

The new, innovative Rest Retire Ready experience is designed to simplify how pre-retirement members can connect with the fund's tools, services and educational content, and guide them towards the support most relevant to their retirement needs. The launch is complemented by a new brand campaign, which aims to highlight how Rest is supporting its members over the age of 50 to prepare for retirement.

Rest’s Chief Member Officer, Simone Van Veen, says Rest Retire Ready has been developed in response to member feedback and in collaboration with Rest’s advice and super specialists, and is part of Rest’s broader strategy to help members achieve their best-possible retirement outcome.

"At Rest, our more than 2 million members are at the heart of everything we do and we’re focused on understanding their unique situations, while supporting them to reach the future they see for themselves in retirement," says Ms Van Veen.

"While we are the number-1 fund for young Australians at the start of their working life, we also represent around 350,000 members aged 50 and older. This makes us a top-10 fund for members nearing or in retirement.

"Our members tell us they don’t always know where to start when it comes to preparing for retirement and it should be simpler and more relevant to their individual circumstances.

"When we stand in our members’ shoes, we know planning for the future can feel complex, especially for those balancing cost of living pressures and caring responsibilities.

"Knowing where to start can often seem daunting. Rest Retire Ready is designed to provide that gateway into a deeper retirement conversation.”

The experience, available through Rest's websites, invites members to complete a digital questionnaire tool which then curates the most relevant retirement preparation support from Rest's bank of articles, videos, podcasts, webinars, calculators and digital advice tools.

"This new digital journey is all about putting the unique needs of our diverse membership first – offering tailored guidance and connecting members to the right support at the right time," adds Ms Van Veen.

"We’ve designed this experience to be flexible, accessible, and based on real member feedback. Through this experience, we are aiming to empower our members to make confident decisions for their future.

"We’re committed to continually improving how we support members approaching or in retirement, with more enhancements and deeper advice integration planned as part of our ongoing strategy."

The launch of Rest Retire Ready is supported by a retro-themed creative campaign, tapping into nostalgia and confidence to inspire members to take action towards a secure retirement.

The initiative is part of a phased rollout, with ongoing improvements, enhancements to our digital advice channels and expanded services to come.

Rest Retire Ready can provide an entry point for members to access Rest’s three-layer advice model, which encompasses education, information, and online calculators; digital intra-fund advice tools; and personal advice provided by phone-based advisers.

Rest’s commitment to making preparing for retirement simpler and more accessible is reflected in the strong uptake of digital advice tools. Rest’s digital tools are used on average about 30,000 times per year, representing around 85% of all advice interactions.

While younger members are the most frequent users in absolute numbers, older members are the heaviest users of Rest’s digital tools on a per-member basis.
