About the Job 

The primary purpose of the role is to prepare and deliver internal investment reports and related information to internal and external stakeholders.   With the responsibility of delivery of more operationally oriented support functions such as the provision of regular performance information to external survey houses, the review of performance fee calculations and ensuring the consistency of performance information across applications. Along with assisting the senior analytics specialists on a variety of data, analytical and system related activities in support of the team’s efforts to enable the Rest investment team with institutional grade multi-manager analytical capability and analysis.


Key responsibilities include:

Reporting:
 
  • Monitor the receipt of data and pending reporting deadlines to ensure the timely delivery of all investment reports in the analytics team’s reporting schedule.
  • Prepare regular investment reports for the senior investment team, investment committee and board (including drafting commentary and analysis) and coordinate the input and involvement of other team members to finalise the investment reports.
  • Provide investment risk data and reports to internal stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Actively work with other team members to proactively engage end users of reports to ensure the reports are fit for purpose, effective, consistent and in line with reporting objectives.
  • Provide ad-hoc performance, risk and investment related data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Operations:
  • Reconcile investment data from custodian, investment managers, investment adviser and other service providers.  Provide related answers and support to various internal business teams.
  • Provide performance related assistance and feedback to those managing vendor relationships.
  • Provide accurate investment related data to external survey houses, REST’s website and bbusiness units reporting to APRA.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry reporting standards (e.g., GIPS, APRA).


Vendor Management:

Assist other analytics specialists within the team manage relationships with the performance and analytics teams at the custodian, analytics provider and asset consultant.

Analytics:

Assist other team members provide analytical tools and analysis to other investment teams, the senior investment team, Rest’s Investment Advisor, Investment Committee and Board.


About You:

You enjoy the trust and autonomy to deliver, whilst being part of wider supportive team.  You have a natural ability to analyse, clarify, action and communicate your findings, always aware of the impact and essential nature of your role. Your ability to manage your time and prioritise is standard, as is your attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. The systems, reporting and data management functions are actively being upgraded at Rest.  There is therefore opportunity to participate in the upgrade and upskill in associated areas.
 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a systems, analytical or finance related discipline.
  • At least two years’ experience in an analytics, risk or performance reporting function.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Knowledge of investment asset classes, securities and investment structures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and high level of numerical literacy.
  • Excellent time management, coordination and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with investment and operations staff.
  • The ability and interest to become proficient in the configuration and use of complex analytical systems.

In addition, the following would be advantageous;
 
  • Experience using analytics or investment risk systems such as FactSet, Charles River, Aladdin, SimCorp, etc). And using analytical software to deliver custom analysis or data visualisation analytics.
  • Experience applying quantitative skills to investment analysis or investment risk problems.
