About the Job

An integral part of the Capital Markets team at Rest, reporting to the Senior Manager Exposure Management, you will be responsible for the research, reporting, measurement and management of the efficient implementation of investment decisions across Rest’s member Options. This includes asset allocation overlays, FX hedging, passive replication, and transition

This role encompasses continuous process review and enhancement to identify best practice and enhance investment returns to members.

Key responsibilities include:

Work collaboratively within the Capital Markets team to deliver global best practice to Rest’s exposure management capability at a whole of fund level including:

  • Research and measurement of implementation of strategic or tactical asset allocation shifts, overlays/tilts, currency overlays, protection strategies, rebalancing and managing daily and episodic asset movements across internal & external portfolios both physically and synthetically including providing beta implementation
  • Efficiently monitor, maintain or recommend changing exposures across Options, Asset Classes and/or Portfolios that seek to balance transaction costs, market liquidity considerations, basis risk and speed of implementation taking into account cashflows and rebalancing needs
  • Research and recommend the utilisation of quantitative solutions to deliver efficient and cost-effective advice in investment decisions
  • Systematic development and improvement in short term exposure switches including transition management capabilities to research, manage, measure and monitor activities including recommendations to the broader teams and provide advice on fund transition activities
  • Assist in the implementation of a Whole of Fund Portfolio Management and Risk Management System.
  • Research and identification of additional efficiency driving activities across portfolios including opportunities to maintain market exposure and maximise asset equitisation
  • Contribute to research and development through to the investments team to remain abreast of relevant industry changes to ensure future-oriented and innovative perspectives are utilised in exposure management activities including opportunity cost analysis and instrument selection to aim to minimise the time between idea creation and implementation
  • Ensure regulatory changes are being complied with and built into future planning provisions and working with compliance to ensure all options/portfolios are reported and operating per their defined AAs, objectives and within set parameters.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, business or commerce
  • Working towards a Post graduate qualification ie CFA / Post Graduate qualification in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, business or commerce
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
 
  • Proven experience in Transitions, and/or Exposure/Overlay Management across Investment Management and Implementation, ideally with experience in dealing with both portfolio managers, trading desks and operations functions
  • Experience in Portfolio Management Systems, Risk Management Systems, Bloomberg, trading, and exposure management decision tools
  • Advanced Excel skills with programming an advantage
  • Ability to work across business units with people of all levels and experience
  • Risk aware and risk control oriented mindset, with a commitment to the continuous improvement of systems and processes
