If you’ve made personal super contributions from your take-home pay and want to claim a tax deduction, we’ve made it simple. You can choose from two easy ways to fill out and submit your Notice of Intent to Claim form.
2. Click on the ‘Want to claim your super on tax?' banner under the “Account Summary” heading.
3. Complete the form
Want to vary a claim? You’ll need to use the ATO form, click the right tab for a step-by-step guide.
Completing the form
Once you’ve logged in and downloaded the form, it’s time to fill it out.
Step 1 : Check your personal details
Your personal details, such as your name, address, and Tax File Number, should be pre-filled based on the information that’s been provided to us. Scan your details to make sure they’re correct.
If anything is wrong, you’ll need to update the information on the ‘Personal Details’ page in MemberAccess.
All fields need to be completed before you can continue to the next step. After updating your details, you can return to the homepage banner and restart the form.
Once you update and confirm your details, you’re ready to move to the claim details section.
Step 2: Enter your claim details
Questions 1 and 2 should be pre-filled with your personal and super fund details.
For question 3, you’ll need to manually enter the dollar amount you want to claim as a tax deduction.
If you know the full amount you contributed to your super for this financial year, and you plan to claim it all, you can enter the full figure.
Example: For the 2024-2025 financial year, John contributed $2,000 to his super from his take-home pay. John wants to claim a tax deduction for all of it – he simply enters $2,000.
You can also choose to claim a tax deduction on only part of your contributions.
Example: John contributed $2,000 but only wants to claim a tax deduction on $1,000 – he enters that amount instead.
You can’t make a claim for more than you have contributed. If you enter an amount that’s too high, you’ll see an error message saying ‘The amount you have entered exceeds your personal contributions. Please enter a lower amount.’
If you’re unsure of the right amount, check your super fund statement or log in to your member account and check under ‘personal contributions’.

Step 3: Review and submit
Now it’s time for a final check.
Carefully review all the information.
Remember, once you hit submit, the only way to change a claim is by completing a new one using the ATO form. So, it’s worth double checking.
Once you’re confident everything is correct, click submit.
The confirmation screen should appear, and you’ll receive an email from us confirming we’ve received your claim, and expect it to take around 5 business days to process the Notice of Intent to claim.
The ATO form lets you submit a new claim, as well as change an existing one.
Changing an existing claim is called varying a deduction, and we’ll unpack how you can do that here.
If you’re not a Rest Member, you can usually find your Member Number on a statement from your fund or can also search using the Super Fund Lookup for your super fund's details.
Section C: Provide your claim details
Here, you need to mark if you’re submitting a new claim or changing a claim you already submitted.
You can choose between
Original Notice to Claim a Tax Deduction (for a new claim), or
Variation of previous valid notice of intent (to change an existing claim).
Then you’ll need to enter your claim details:
Enter the financial year you made the contributions,
along with the amount you contributed,
and how much you want to claim as a tax deduction.
If you’re unsure of the right amount, check your super fund statement or log in to your member account and check under ‘personal contributions’.
Section D: Sign your declaration
In this part, you’ll see there are two declarations. The Intent to claim a tax deduction section, and a variation of a previous valid notice of intent.
You’ll need to print your full name, signature, and date for an original claim.
You’ll get an email confirmation from us confirming we’ve received your request, and expect it to take around 5 business days to process the Notice of Intent to claim.
