Fixed term – 12 month contract – Sydney CBD

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for non-SIM related legal matters relating to REST including providing legal advice to REST business units, board and directors to ensure appropriate management of REST’s legal rights and duties and legal compliance in the regulated superannuation environment.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law and hold a current NSW solicitors’ practising certificate
  • Ideally 3-5 years expertise in legal roles with an emphasis on financial services, in particular superannuation would be advantage
  • Thorough knowledge of legal obligations as they relate to superannuation funds and superannuation trustees
  • Strong commercial drafting skills with a focus on clarity and plain English
  • Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to legal risk management
  • Experience in managing multiple projects, and prioritising competing deadlines
  • Ability to work in an environment requiring attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and ability to liaise across the fund and its strategic partners as required will be well regarded.
